In collaboration with prominent architects such as Frank Gehry Partners, Rem Koolhaas & OMA, Michael Maltzan, Johnson Fain Partners, Lorcan O’Herlihy, and Koning Eizenberg Architects, and landscape architects such as Rios Clementi Hale, Melendrez, and RBF, Nancy Goslee Power & Associates has designed over 150 public and private gardens, including private gardens, public spaces, parks, roof gardens, museum campuses, master plans and children’s gardens. NGP&A prides itself on designing compelling spaces – beautiful, healthy, and functional environments that enable and inspire people to live well. Our studio culture is based on collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared belief in the transformative influence that quality design can have on our lives. We particularly value the productive and engaging relationships that result from client and design team collaborations. We have won numerous awards for our work and many of the firm’s projects have been featured in such publications as Architectural Record, Landscape Architecture, Garden Design, House & Garden, House Beautiful, Town & Country, and Pacific Horticulture.
We approach garden design as a living art form and strive to create gardens that embrace the unique complexities of each site – its history, natural environment and social context - while responding to our client’s needs and desires. Sustainable practices are inherent in our work, from the envisioning of outdoor living rooms and our choices of plant material appropriate to climate, to our advocacy of capturing and reusing water on a site. Our goal is to create aesthetically beautiful and enduring gardens that provide sanctuary from the chaos of everyday life and celebrate the dynamic nature of the landscape and our relationship to it.
Over the history of the firm, the NGP&A team has been comprised of highly creative members representing a broad education and experience base, ranging from artists: painters, sculptors, writers, musicians and filmmakers, to art and garden historians, garden designers, architects and landscape architects. Working collaboratively internally and with partnering architects, landscape architects, and interdisciplinary project teams, NGP&A has played an important role in shaping the Southern California landscape; The firm has a deep commitment to designing interesting garden spaces and educating people of the positive role gardens play in our physical and mental health. NPG&A is currently working with recent staff addition, California Landscape Architect Andy Wilcox, on a Master Plan for the Ford Amphitheater, an education and kitchen garden for the Herb Alpert Education Village, and outdoor classrooms and native garden creative play space for the Wildwood School.
