Rustic Canyon

James Turrell, the famed sculptor of light, built his piece Sky Space with the owner of this home and garden. We looked at the entire hillside and felt that the strong masculine structure should emerge from a soft planting of waves of grass and fold into a pattern of plants with strong colors and textures. We continued for over a year moving through the entire site in order to create a cohesive, beautiful landscape in the cool shaded climate of Rustic Canyon.
